The problem

City, county, state and school bid postings are spread across many websites. Checking them by hand takes time, and good opportunities get missed or found too late.

Step by step

  1. 1List the bid sites you care about (city, county, state procurement portals, school boards) and sign up for their email alerts or RSS feeds where offered.
  2. 2Send those alerts to one inbox or folder.
  3. 3Use Zapier or Make to collect each new posting into a Google Sheet (title, agency, due date, link).
  4. 4Add an AI step (ChatGPT or Claude) that scores each posting against your trade, service area and job size and writes a 2-line summary.
  5. 5Send yourself one daily email with the relevant bids, sorted by due date.
  6. 6Always read the full bid documents before deciding to bid.

Copy-paste prompt

Prompt
You help a [trade] contractor in [service area] who bids jobs between $[min] and $[max]. For each bid posting below, say whether it fits (yes/maybe/no) and why, give a 2-line summary, the agency, the due date and any pre-bid meeting. Sort the fits by due date. Do not guess details that are not in the posting.
